Re: RPG-Legends of the Dark Ages (prev. Apocalypse of the Go
My opinion about the story:
The story is kind of trashy. Stories about time-travel are ways to common.
The advantage is that you have easily a lot of variety. But there are way to much disadvantages: it's hard to make it believable; since there are a lot of games featuring the theme, it's hard to make something new; you have a lot of work with the models, sounds and maps, because you have to design it completely different for every period and can copy nearly never.
Whatever, just my cup of tea. I personally would never make a game about time-travel.

Re: RPG-Legends of the Dark Ages (prev. Apocalypse of the Go
We're not making all the time periods at once though. We're starting with the medieval time period. That's going to be released. Then, about three or four months later (maybe longer), the next time period/level would be released. In this case, the Medieval Era would come first, then the Feudal Japanese Era next. We'll start with those two for now. Since they're the easiest. By the time these two come out, RPG mode will have advanced greatly and so would my knowledge of C++ in order to modify the RPG mode to make it even better. I hope you see what I'm getting at. I appreciate your thought on the game.

Hmmmm... I haven't read about the story yet (yeah, i'm stupid that way) and I was thinking... it sounds kind of, erm... corny. But, here's an idea: you should make it so that the scientist accidentally travels through a portal through time-space, when heis experimenting with physics. He journeys through the Medieval times, and finds a group of people who look sort of modern, and he figures out that they're time travelers, too, but without good intention. He finds out that they want to gain power over the modern civilization by tricking the more ancient civilizations into them becoming they're ruler. They make sure they don't make any technological advances to oppose them in the future, and continue this throughout the other main periods of time. You, the hero, have to make sure to foil they're plans, and send them, one by one, way, waaay back in time (dinosaurs) throughout the game. Eventually, you fight their leader, and have to use his portal generator to reverse what happened, and he ends up disentigrating. Then you win, saving the Earth, and everyone on it. You could maybe edit out a few things or add a few things if you like my idea.

@ java.x.beast: every period will be an extra game? Not a bad idea.
@mr2000: Your story is even more 'corny'
It remembers me at several films and books about time-travel.

@mr2000 I'm sorry bro but I'm gonna stick to the original plan, no matter how corny it is. But I really do appreciate your thoughts though.
@kddekadenz Thanks. It's supposed to be a series. An epicly long series.

Just thought I'd mention, 1500 isn't the Medieval Period, it's the Renaissance. Medieval period would be roughly (off the top of my head) like 900-1400 ish. 1500 is just far too close to the Renaissance in my opinion.

Yeah. This map is taking longer than I thought; I've had floods of homework and tests and I don't know why. My teachers are homework mad.
