My first map

Hi people, i have just begun using the Platinum Arts Sandbox and started making my first map (size 16). The map contains different types of environments such as high mountains, lake, swamp, desert and others which i haven't added. I have only been using the default textures and models but they have been great. However i am posting this because of two main points:

1. It is taking me ages to map it by myself
2. I do not know how to do the more complex things such as adding an imported model, having character classes/stats and other elements that are in rpg games.

so i was wondering if anyone was interested in helping out with the map, it doesn't matter if you can only make cubes or paint the walls :D it will help greatly and as well as having your own ideas being implemented.

I will provide some screenshots so that you will have an idea of what i have currently done;

-added main "town" with npcs

-added the snow mountains section (incomplete)

-added desert egypt section with the boss lair (the rock golem is just a illustration for the boss, need help with adding proper boss)

-lake added with boss lair at the bottom of the lake

-random npc (want to add some quests)

If you have any questions about the map or are interested in helping complete this map please notify me. I can explain in more detail about the game concept and game play later on if needed.

Thanks

John

Find a friend in real life. If you can. Don't ask for mapping help here, you're not going to find it because everybody else has their own projects to work on, not to mention we've been really quiet lately.

Taking a look at the wiki might help you.

I'd take a look at http://www.hourences.com/tutorials-texturing/ and learn more about the texturing you're doing, also you should probably look at http://cube.wikispaces.com/How+not+to+start+a+mod, it's rather harsh but explains well what a lot of people do wrong. I realize you're not making a mod, but coming here and asking for help is on there. You'll see.

I'd gladly do a coop project with you. I think we have somewhat of the same idea in mind for a game. Get back to me when you can and we can discuss it if your like.

Thanks,

Josh

It's cool that you're wanting to start a project. But can you please post images using imageshack, tinypic, skydrive or some other means that don't require us to download the images. You'll end up losing a lot of potential views due to needing to download the images. You know, you can add your map/mod/game to ModDB and upload your screenshots there. That'll save hassle for all of us.
