Here's one you should try for scripting (Its my own program, so I know it works...)
EasyScriptBuilder
Current release is 0.0.6, although todays release (18 June 2011) will be 0.1.5, once I get the Undo/Redo system fixed and a proper SaveFileDialog. Maybe for 0.2.0 I'll implement themes. Any ideas for the themes? (post them in the EasyScriptBuilder topic)

This is kind of off topic but you could use libreoffice (http://libreoffice.org) as a free way to get the features of Micro$oft office as an office program. You could use it for planning, budget sheets .etc

Yeah, I use ubuntu. For a good vector graphics program, I would try inkscape.
