Scrolling texture tutorial

Postby sayrken » April 17th, 2014, 3:06 am

This works with any texture except the sky.
Make sure you are in edit-mode.
Image

Highlight the texture area that you want to be scrolling
Press the console command key " ~ "
type

Code: Select all

 /vscroll 1

and press enter.
you can also increase the speed ex:

Code: Select all

 /vscroll 10
or

Code: Select all

/vscroll 20
etc. (The number is the speed of the scroll).
Also if you want to change the direction type in

Code: Select all

/vscroll -1

This can create nice looking lava-flows, water streams or anything else that comes in mind.
Note: the player don't get effected by scrolling texture.

Now that our textures work in Sandbox, we might want to add a little something extra within our textures folder.
You can add your own README.TXT with credits and such, or you can also add them in the packages.cfg with commenting.
You can add the TextureDocument.PSD (if you work in photoshop) for others to look at or to adapt your work.
You can add glow maps, and all of those things, and you can add your license if you have one.
