Re: Foreign Dimension
Well, I feel that in a game, the end of a level/game should make the player feel as if they accomplished something. Not just something to tell you where to stop. This comes from my "gamer instinct". I'm thinking that maybe the ending could unlock a new area to explore. Maybe portal near a chest containing a key. It could transport you back to the beginning and you could use the key to unlock a secret area. What do you think? =D
EDIT: On that subject, I don't really like the current key mapmodel. Could I request a new key mapmodel? And maybe a door to go with it?

Yay. ^_^
Re: Foreign Dimension
What about sending them to an eyecandy room fill with beautiful water and lush vegetation or something? Like a secret oasis in space or something. Or some other eye candy type area. I think it is important to make it clear somehow that it is the end, even if you give a subtle hint.
As for the key, why don't you ask Captain Ahab nicely through PM? He has been a bit busy lately but ya never know Take care!

Re: Foreign Dimension
I think that's a pretty good idea. Maybe it could send you to different areas depending on which way you choose to finish the level. By the way, in case it wasn't obvious, I've started working on the alternate ending. It'll be a bit more difficult to reach, but I'll make sure there'll be a satisfying prize at the end.
About the key, I'll try that. Thanks.

Re: Foreign Dimension
Also you could stop into IRC and chat with Daniel_san, he might make a key for you. I'm excited to see what your final prize is! Also you seem to have really interesting ideas for your particles, maybe add in some cool design with them? Take care.

Re: Foreign Dimension
Well, after quite a while since my last upload, the final version of Foreign Dimension 2 is here! Sorry it took so long, guys. I've gotten distracted by other things a lot lately. A quick reminder that this map is for the SVN version of Sandbox. I also talked to calimer on the IRC and found out that this map may be included in Sandbox 2.4! Sweet! Anyway, here's the download link. As usual, let me know if you have any problems.

I'll have some screenshots of it in a few minutes.
EDIT: Screenshots are here!

From the very beginning you can tell that this map is big.

Here we get a nice view of the moon behind violet clouds.

Some people may find this part a little tricky, since the platforms are pretty small and in a dark area.

Tightrope act! *Circus music plays* On a more serious note, I could have made the path thinner, but I decided not to so that it wouldn't be too frustrating.

This is a small glance at a "fork in the road". One path leads further in the level, and the other is a room with teleporters to the different endings. Both endings require a key to open the door, so I recommend just going onto the particle area for the first time around. It'll launch you forward.

Here's a glimpse at a section I'm pretty proud of. This section has launch pads that give you just enough momentum to reach the next launch pad. It's pretty cool to see it in action.

Yet another "fork in the road". In this one, the path indicated by the green arrow is the path to the main key. That will unlock the first ending. However, if you walk across the wall where the arrow is standing, you will face a few tougher obstacles to get to the second key which unlocks the alternate ending.

Right now I'm just showing you parts of the main path, since the second path is a little more challenging and I want you to experience that for yourself. Anyway, this is a passage through the sky. The location of the first key is very close to this area.

This is the final section of the journey to the first key. ANYONE who's played Mario Kart should get the reference here. Anyway, the teleporter on the far end of the shot will send you back to the start of the level. Btw, you don't actually grab the key. It acts more as a switch that opens and closes the door in the end selection room.
Enjoy!

Re: Foreign Dimension
Oh... WOW. Now that's what it's all about. That is just plain GOOD. So, what's the main plot? I might not have been paying attention if you said it, sorry... Any plans on sidequests? Kill the dragon kind of things (or, in your case, freakishly colored dragons)?. Nice work with the MarioKart ramps, too.
EDIT: what you could do, is make multiple keys, except change the color of them so you have fake and real keys. And the fake keys just lead you back to the front, or to the middle of nowhere. Hmmm... Maybe you could make Nowhere a place... along with Never... That would be fun to see. An obvious pun on a common saying.
