can't see grid box

please help!!! Ok when i start in a new map and go to edit mode if im looking at the grass i can see the half square but i cant see the grid line so when i click and drag i don't know how big a space im dragging to edit. please help asap

YEY!!!!! i gost it if anyone else has this problem this is what i did. first off im running on windows xp. what i did is at my desktop i right clicked and went to the appearance tab, then decreased resolution to 1024x768. then when i clicked sandbox launcher i clicked on shaders and turned that off. and thats it.
