I think I accidentally discovered that trick at summer camp this year. XD

If you made them into a model, it would take away the ability to customize the shape of it in-game. I think it's worth the time to make them yourself.

Well, other than quality, it's pretty cool, but the quality pretty much kills it for me. Also, it's a little repetitive at certain parts.
