I haven't had a chance to check this out yet but I have heard good things. If you get this project to a good point, such as whenever you are ready and it seems polished enough to me, I would be more than happy to promote it just as hard as I would promote a Sandbox release, aka send out to all the news sites, on the Sandbox page, etc. Though perhaps it would be a good idea wait until Hirato got monsters into the RPG and use the RPG as a base? Then you could have spells and such as well. Take care and keep up the good work!

That would be a nice publicity for PAS. So, we will see how the things go ...
I hope that you will find some time to play the game.

I think I can create a nice game also without monsters.
But much better if they will be implemented. It's your turn Hirato 8-) much thanks for your work!!!

I would really appreciate this :P But for now I think that I must return at my work :geek:

I'm sorry that I had no time to set checkpoints (because in the rpg mode it isn't implemented) and to correct other bugs.
Here is the changelog:

  • FEATURES:

    *10-20 minutes of gameplay

    - NEW second dungeon part
    - NEW textures for dungeons
    - NEW main quest "Find the exit of the dungeon"
    - NEW quest "Find out who brought you in the dungeon"
    - NEW inventory objects weight system
    - NEW a lot of world details
    - NEW dialogue parts for "Kevin"
    - NEW icons for inventory objects
    - NEW desktop shortcut
    - NEW written style

    - ADD silver coins
    - ADD a lot of new objects
    - ADD more lights
    - ADD meat pieces
    - ADD sound for lava
    - ADD sound for water

    - MOD first dungeon part
    - MOD HUD

    - FIX NPC names
    - FIX action buttons
    - FIX main menu
    - FIX inventory
    - FIX heavy scripts errors
    - FIX game size
    - FIX movespeed

    KNOWN BUGS:

    - "SAVEGAME" not work (no way to save games)
    - "LOADGAME" not work (no way to load games)
    - there are no checkpoints or savepoints
(not implemented in the rpg modus)
    - there isn't a third person character
    - there are a few buttons with no textures errors
    - the water specularity is blinding
    - the option settings are not optimized
    - there isn't an option for mouse speed
    - there isn't a died sound
    - the died message is written too little
    - it is too dark in a few places
    - the inventory menu needs a second to load
    - a few sound are not in the right place
The next release will be a major release, because the first dungeon will be finished and the game continues in the open world. Hopely i'll find the solution for checkpoints and for the errors 8-)

damiandj wrote:Thanks Hirato for your opinion:
I think that I can't include a smaller package for those who have sandbox, because if the package writes over this files it will make the complete program unplayable. For example, the menu files.... (maybe I find a solution)
Well you could first save the files for the game as something like "menus.cfg.tgc" then rename it in a bat file that starts the game like:

Code: Select all

rename data/lang/menus.cfg menus.cfg.bak
rename data/lang/menus.cfg.tgc menus.cfg

bin\sandbox_fps.exe -qmy_stuff -r %1 %2 %3 %4 %5

rename data/lang/menus.cfg menus.cfg.tgc
rename data/lang/menus.cfg.bak menus.cfg
The first set will rename the original file to a backup while renaming the new file to its place
The second set runs the game
The third set doesn't run until the game is exited, it renames all the files back to their original name

If you could put all the modified files in this you could run this bat to start the game, without permanently modifying the Sandbox files.

@Mike & Hirato
thanks, fortunately our support with PAS is fantastic

@miluaces
Thanks, I'll try to do what you say.
Or maybe, I'll release a version with all the base content and then every weekend an update.
Who knows... 8-)

You are more than welcome to always post new content about your game! We love seeing it! Also I made your post "stickied" so that it will always be near the top. Keep up the good work and if you'd like we can talk about ways to promote your game! Take care.
