Severe FPS issues with new patch
I love water, I wanted to make ships and such in my maps. I used to do this with version 2.3 with no problems. However now, whenever I'm near water in 2.4 I drop from over 200 FPS to about 1. Especially when someone jumps in and out of it. I have the same system specs as I used to and this happens on both my machines, except that on the second computer, it's constantly lagging.
I have :
1.8 Ghz processor
258MB ATI graphics card (NVidia on my other machine)
approx. 2.8 GB of ram DDR2 (1.5 of DDR on the second machine)
Anyone have any suggestions what I'm doing wrong? I've dropped all the settings down and still no results.
Also, as a second question, how can I make a map above size 16? It doesn't seem to allow me to make anything higher even while I select it on the slider.
Thanks in advance.

Okay, quick question. What mode are you running Sandbox in when you get the framerate drops? I know I've been having issues with the SVN, where the GUI and the water flicker and massively reduce the framerate, but that might be an SVN issue that has since been fixed.

Pardon my ignorance here but SVN? I'm in coop editing mode, but this happens in single player mode as well. Anytime I run around the map and dive into water the FPS drops dramatically and continues to drop until my machine freezes. This requires task manager to close the program.
Aside from the water, the other editors on my listen server also suffer massive FPS spikes sporadically yet not with water so much as I do.

Odd. Also, SVN refers to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subversion_%28software%29
(In other words, I am running the development copy of Sandbox)
To clarify, the FPS drop occurs only when you are /in/ the water? Or is it when you are looking towards water?

Re: Severe FPS issues with new patch
Ah ok I see. I learned something new today haha. Well I have the version from the downloads page on the main Platinum Arts site.
And yes it happens when I'm in water, that's when it does the most damage. But it does also affect me when I'm near water. Such as when one of my friends placed even a small pool (aobut 6 grids size 3 in total size) near me. I had another friend jump into a well we made and he had the same problem. We've simply avoided placing water on our maps for now.
Hope this helps, it's when I'm anywhere near water really. I'll do some single player tests like looking at water and turning my back to it and let you know. I'm pretty sure I didn't have this problem with previous patches.

Re: Severe FPS issues with new patch
yep just tried the "village" map on single player and it froze as I was rounding a building heading for the water. But I was extremely far from the water and not all the trees had loaded yet. I have it alt-tabbed. Before I did that I had 1 FPS. So it seems it might not be specifically water.
While Alt-tabbed I read my CPU usage, it's 100 percent and staying there.

Interesting. What type of graphics card do you have, integrated or external?

PCIe Diamond Radeon x1550 with 512 MB of memory. The monitor is an LCD and is running in 1024x768 at 60 hertz. (maybe a higher refresh rate?)
Re: Severe FPS issues with new patch
The monitor shouldn't affect the framerate, so meh.
