How do I animate my fire place?

Click where you want the fire, esc, particles, fire/smoke/fire+smoke

I must be messing up. I did as you said except I had to press esc to get to the map models. I selected fire and it showed the fire icon but no animation. It has a bunch of info I don't understand. like trigger.

you can select it and press f3 to change some stuff like radius and stuff like that, I hope you can get it work

You have a fire mapmodel, right? That provides the firewood. To have it animated, you need a fire particle. Just like what Pizza said.
