Making elevators work?

Okay, so I've been digging through the support and tutorial sections for a couple of hours now, and everything I try doesn't work. I'm completely new to coding, so I have just about no idea what I'm doing and I'm pretty sure I'm just making some obscure mistake somewhere. :lol:

Would anybody be willing to do a click-by-click walk-through or something so I can figure out how to make it work? Oh, and when I hit the "`" and type in elevator, it doesn't recognize the command.

1) Click on a block
2) hit esc
3) hit editing gui
4) Ents
5) Elevator
6) Click on the box and hit F3
7) change the settings to your liking :D
P.S. After you get everything right , hit "e" swice ;)

when you use the console, it's "/ newent elevator # # #".

The numbers are your x y and z values for direction.

Oh boy. Okay, I've got a real quandary here. I got as far as step four, but in the list under Ents there is no elevator. Am I missing something?

Edit: Okay I'll try the the console thing, really quickly.

Edit: I got a message in the top left saying- unknown entity type "elevator"

are you in SSP or RPG? in those, some ents don't work. That may be it.

Yeah, I'm in RPG. I don't think the teleport thing works either because I've tried hunting for it too and I can't find it. Is there a way to make them work?

There is a special rpg teleport, I think, but no elevator :(

Ah, that's okay. How do I set up the teleport within a map so it acts kind of like an elevator to take you to a different floor in a building?

I can't explain adding a teleporter, but you could make an invisible teleport at the elevator base and put one on the next floor up (in the elevator shaft).

That was the idea I had as a back up, but I have no idea how to do it because although I have teledest in the ents list, I don't have teleport.
