the most likely scenario is missing 3D acceleration drivers

i have an intel centrino duo thingy, and it says "up to 252mb Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100" if that means anything. unfortunatley, i dont really know much about comouters, hence the username:{

i installed 2.5 but the same thing happens with that. i really dont know what to do now...

does anyone know where i can update my drivers for free, with no membership??? all the sites ive been on, you have to pay or sign up.

With 2.6 win7 is fine it is 2.5 and under win 7 does not work as well.
If you laptop grathics card is more then 5 years old and it is ATI,AMD,Nivida or intel shaders will be too old also i would turn down eveything in 2.6 to it's lowest test after then if that does not work as hirato said try to download a update.
To update go on google type in your grathics card detals then after type updates.
Hope this helps (said some famous words from someone i wonder who that is).

IT WORKED!!! 2.6 works on Vista. all i did was update my driver by doing:
control panel
system and maintenance
update devive drivers
diplay adapters
choose it and it will update
restart
