2.6.1 issues and ideas

A friend of mine and I were using 2.6.1 (my first time, speaking of which), and we went into the VehicleSimulator, and the first thing it did was freeze... in a sense. The FPS number was changing constantly (like it does), and the echoed messages appeared. However, no vehicle appeared, the GUI didn't work when I hit ESC, and it wouldn't respond to the mouse. Any help here?
Also... for the ideas part (a review of sorts).
Bad stuff first:
Something I noticed was the lack of explanation on using RPG mode features, like the equipment tab on the spells and such menu only had numbers which made no sense. Also, I'm gonna have to say most of us are wondering how to spawn things. There wasn't much stuff on spells, either, so yeah.
When the VS did work (before the problem), it was a lot of fun, something I think that future versions could use might be a better way to control speed, most of the time it was either 280 MPH or 0 MPH.
For SSP, we were extremely confused at first with the new aiming system, and that's caused some camera difficulties for us. Also, the entity factors (such as yaw, index, etc) didn't have very good menus... I thought that by now the ent_action or whatever would be fixed.
FPS: Not much has changed, so... yeah.
I usually use the launcher, so I hoped to see that it would be fixed up a bit, but alas, no. Also, speaking of the launcher, there's a blank spot where I think "house" would be, there's no text there, but you can select and launch it and go into the house map.
With the alpha material, I thought it was able to create diagonal materials, tried it, it didn't work at all. the transparency part of it is nice though. Made a rainbow staircase.
Good stuff now:
New textures- loved the metallic ones, also the basic colors.
New starter maps- I loved the revamped House that Hirato did, it's beautiful. The racetrack/obstacle course was also a lot of fun.
RPG features- The new features were amazing, I hope to see more soon.
Vehicle simulator- everything.
Well, I think that's it. Hopefully I'll get a solution to our problem.

The RPG is alpha state at best; it is susceptible to dramatic changes that can and will destroy all compatibility with older versions.
Once I have things more finalised, I will be documenting things on the wiki.

You can disable the aiming thing, check options --> game
As for the entities, use the F3 menu in the meantime.

Rule of thumb MATERIALS CANNOT BE DEFORMED.
Combining the alpha mat with textures at best will only allow you to create something akin to glass.
As for the rest of your complaints, there simply aren't the resources (people) to tackle them.
I'm focused on the RPG and apart from the odd patch from Prottey, no one is helping out as far as code goes.

Hey Guys,
My name is Sean, I work with C3 Cyber Club, we have been using Platinum Arts for about 2 yeas now and wanted to say thanks for all the hard work. The kids love it and we are always looking for ways to improve the classes. Anyways I've hit a snagg in the new 2.6.1 release. Almost randomly when launching a level in fps mode, the game keyboard will lock up and all you can do is look around using the mouse. The only way to exit the game is to press control Alt Delete or press command D. I can never repeat the bug but when it happens the only thing I can do is install the software again and it works. Its happen to about 5 laptops already.
When selecting FPS Mode the keyboard locks up after launching the game.
Game Mode Coop Edit pops up. I'm assuming this has something to do with it because it never shows up in that mode. Anyways when I try using SSP or RPG everything fine. Its only when I go back to FPS mode will the keyboard lock up. It's not the command line or any of the other issues. I've pressed every buton and keyboard option. Was wondering if you ever experienced this and is there a simple way to fix this?

I've encountered a similar problem a few times in the past several months; I'm not having much luck reproducing it reliably (if you can think of a way to do that, do let me know).
Assuming this is the same issue, you'll want to either a) delete my_stuff/config_fps or go into the options menu and click "restore defaults" or a similar equivalent.
Sandbox for 2.6.1 imported a new cubescript parser from upstream, which compiles the script into JIT, and the problems have existed since then.
I honestly wish I knew where or what the problem is.

I need that, and also this: why are the torley textures colored in Hirato's house map, but not anywhere else? Is it lighting? I can't figure it out...
Hopefully someone with authority will answer this.
