What is newui

I saw the folder in the data folder called newui. Could anyone tell me what purpose the files in that folder serve.
Essentially it's what the newui means, a new User Interface.
It's a clean look, maybe a bit more professional than the regular gui. Here's a look: http://www.moddb.com/games/platinum-art ... i#imagebox
It is however, a bit harder to understand than the Cubescript syntax most of us are used to, so it's not used around here a lot.
