"non-free art"

Post by jSoftApps »

I was reading through the sandboxtodo.txt file and I came across a line "move non-free art assets to another branch and release this that an extra"
What is "non-free art" I would like to know because I would like to help with the 3.0.0 release.

It means, that some textures and models in sandbox are forbidden to use in commerical games... so the developers are planning to remove them from sandbox. But they can't just do it because then there would be much less stuff, they have to find replacements for the stuff they remove.

cc-by-nc, cc-by-nc-sa, cc-by-nc-nd and cc-by-nd would qualify as non-free, though the cc-by-nd content could be used in a commercial context
This is not a url, clicking it is pointless
