Hmmm. Interesting concept. A 2D image in a 3D world. I think you may be right. If the object was far enough away, who would care if it were 2D or 3D? Great thought. I will give it a try. Many thanx.

Ok here's a simple example. I made the texture before I made the model. However after playing with it in PAS, I noticed something else, You can pull cubes out of mid air in PAS . You could build your ship in PAS and not even build a model ! Wings3D is available for Linux. I used Fragmotion to convert to md2, but you could use Blender to convert to md3. A single model with a single texture and no animations just make the config like this one.

Cool ship! Have you thought of creating a tutorial? It will give we, shall we say, less talented noobs the skill and confidence to do our own.
