Selecting and exporting map geometry
Posted: December 10th, 2012, 5:40 am
I would like to take cubes of map geometry at various grid sizes and export them to import them into another program in order to determine sizes. I have no middle mouse button, I have attempted to bind the slash key to that. I have Page Up and Page Down configured to Mouse Up and Down.
I assume I have to select all the faces of a cube, once I have pulled it up and separated it from everything so its floating in the air. Is this a wrong understanding? If not I just need to know how to select all the faces of the cube and what command to use to export the geometry. If I can only export the whole map that's OK, I will design a maps with a cube sticking up and work it that way.
I appreciate your help! Using the latest (I think) 2.8 build of Sandbox.

UPDATE!
OK, so /writeobj NAME seems to be the way to export a map. Trying that, if it works consider that part of my question answers. I will keep this thread updated. I'm also doing a video tutorial showing how to do this.
