Moving 2 or more corners at once?

This is an odd question better illustrated by this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPhBEYEGxjw
I can't figure out how they are doing that. How they select say two vertices from one cube, two from the one next to it, get that rectangle in the box then push all 2-4 vertices at a time inside. I can press MMB and get a small square in a box, but I have not been able to expand it.
Can anyone shed some light on this? It would be a great help!

At 0:47-51 and again at 1:40-1:44.
I believe I have tried holding the button - assuming you mean right mouse. I will try this again. The person doing the video does this over and over. Selects two cubes, selects the two inside edges, pushes them it. Not one corner at a time stuff. Can't wait to figure this out!

UPDATE!
OK I figured it out. In general you are supposed to select multiple corners at once by clicking the Middle Mouse Button and dragging the mouse. Unfortunately, as I have no mouse, I have to use a key. But for some reason using a key isn't allowing me to select multiple corners. I was playing around, trying different combos. I could get it to make the box, but it wouldn't keep it, just went back to the default small box in the larger box. I managed to get two corners selected just once but was unable to repeat it.
What I need (I think) is a way to make my key, END, work just like the click and drag of the MOUSE1 button. Any ideas as to how to map this for a non-mouse user?
Thanks!

So another update... Looks like when I press my chosen key, END, the cursor freezes. I can't look up and down to select more surfaces while holding END. I can (inconsistently) sort of click END and drag my finger (touchpad - on a laptop) and about 3 or 4 times out of 10 I can get two vertices selected, not always where I wanted. But I need a consistent way of doing this. So how can I set this up so I can freely select as many vertices as I want?
I appreciate your help!

you could also normally select all the faces and use the Q button plus your scroll wheel implementation to push in corners.

I have no problem pushing and pulling individual corners. What I need to be able to do is push and pull multiple selected corners at once. Otherwise it'll take me a very long time to create anything curved.

You can use F instead of Q to do all corners at once, you can also select multiple cubes and sroll 2 edges, and then use F to make it smooth

...Or you can just hold the middle mouse button as suggested previously, and drag it as needed,

@hirato: I don't think he has a middle mouse button to work with (laptop touchpad), unless you're referring to whatever workaround keybinds he's using.
