showgui not working

Correct me if I am wrong. Using SB pre version 2.8, the showgui command worked just fine. I have just finished installing 2.8.2 and the showgui command is no longer recognised. I am going to assume that there has been a program change and the wiki documents have not as yet caught up. I am going to assume that I am correct. My next, most logical question would be, can someone either provide a list of the new commands or update the wiki pages?

Sorry to be a pain. I am trying to script a door/key function and I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Many thanks.

J

Interesting. I've had, to date, 46 "views", and no replies.

I have to conclude that either;
1. Of the 46 views, no one is using version 2.8.2;
2. Some or all of the 46 do not know how to help with my problem.
3. Some or all of the 46 know of the problem but have decided not to help.
4. or perhaps I am being paranoid and imagining that I am being ignored.

I though this part of the Forum was for General Support, or have I posted in the wrong place?

showgui went away when the new user interface system landed.

The outdated wiki page for that is here: http://www.sandboxgamemaker.com/wiki/in ... nu_editing
It's unfortunately not going to help you much with using it - Not sure why you'd need it for a door/key combo unless you're entering a cipher.

I needed a message box to pop up if I aproached a door without a key; and another to pop up when I picked up the key. And yes, I know I could use "echo", but I figured a nice gui message would look better. Hmmm. A cypher? Could be useful. Thanks. So. With showgui gone, what has it been replaced with? Assuming it was replaced.
