I have tried the launcher that was the first thing I did. How do you turn off the shaders?
EDIT: Never mind found it. No that did not work. The same thing happens. It gets to the loading screen and appears to load all the stuff but then poof shuts itself right off.

DO
NOT
RUN

DIRECTLY
use the bats or launcher
seriously, it sounds as though you're running the binaries directly
if bin/stdout.txt complains about "core files/textures" then you are

I am running the launcher. As I had already said that is the first thing I did. I don't know what the binaries is so how exactly am I running those? Btw, there is no error message or anything complaining about "core files/textures". It just stops loading on particles. Steps that I take:
Click on Sandbox icon on desktop
Launcher opens Resolution set to 800x600 Shader off and Vsync off
Click launch
Splash screen appears
loading occurs
-just as it gets to particles in the loading process it exits. Now if this is from binaries then sorry I don't know how to run binaries and don't know how I'm doing that.
EDIT: I did receive an error message after loading from batch file and going into Option. Something about the buffer not being supported.

All I can say is to use a desktop PC with an Nvidia graphics card. I generaly hate Laptops. (If I spelt anything wrong, dont blame me)
Support on Vista wasnt very good to be honest.

XP = Great
Vista = Useless
Windows 7 = Epic
Linux = Small level below Epic
Mac = Don't talk.
You should use Win7 for Sandbox. Although it likes Linux to.
