Hijack away!! All useful lol

So I have got this all working:
npc interaction - including picking up if we've spoken before and progress checking ("How many keys do you have now?" etc)
picking up stuff
inventory
shop
doors locked
doors needing muliple keys to open
lovely looking map - thanks to one of my students showing me how to use and calc light sources
searching items - some have goodies, some don't

So. progressing well.

Next questions: How can I set a default starting point on my map? Aaaaand, I need a model of a princess - using an ogre at the moment, just not the same lol

I understand Malk!!

Anyway, go into fps and enter edit mode. Hit esc then Editing Gui. Click Ents. Click Player Spawn point (something like that...) move that around to where you want it and that should work!

Would you mind creating a topic in the Show off your work section so that we, the Sandbox community, could view your amazing map with lightmaps? :D Sounds pretty cool!

Thanks Arc,

Once I'm happy with my game I will. Struggling with unwanted polygons appearing when I edit terrain. They look like triangular fungus growing out of the side of terrain. Really ugly and hard to get rid of..

In which way are you editing the terrain?

Editing using the square cursor and the mouse wheel - why? It's a real pain, takes ages to get rid of them... grrrrr arrrrr etc

okay, so lets say your just creating slopes (is that accurate?)

Just select the top of the messed up area and scroll down until you reach the ground. I believe that will work. Then just try again!

Are you trying to make 1. buildings 2. slopes 3. anything else..... it might help us to figure out how to get rid of unwanted geometry! ;)

It's happening on slopes that I've created by selecting an area using the mouse wheel button, hitting "H" and using the wheel to create the slopes and valleys. If I then add something like a wall or a passage then the unwanted triangles appear.

Not had this problem with buildings and other structures I've created - just on slopes.

Cheers

it's because you're using a gridsize that doesn't match the rest of the geometry (press SHIFT-6)
the engine tries to interpolate as best it can, but for certain positions, it's just not possible

Thanks Hirato,

What does SHIFT-6 do?
