Feedback away :D Let us know what you like and don't like and ideas are welcome too :)

Changelog:

Art
* removed a large number of archaic or otherwise useless maps
* moved non-free textures and music out of the main branch
* Added cork279's music collection
* added tyche's textures
* replaced some particle sprites with those provided by JSoftApps

Generic
* re-added sliders as an option for most properties in the entity menus. You can find a toggle in the Misc tab
* fixed a memory corruption issue when preparing more verbose entity information for the editmode helper

RPG
* clear cancelled status of cutscenes after skipping a cutscene
* fixed potential crash/corruption for use configuration with an invalid use type
* disable savegames in editmode and while the reference stack is deeper than 1
* r_sleep, like sleep but duplicates the reference table and persists over sessions.
* r_select commands have laxed requirements and can be initialised from additional reference types (eg, faction can now be initialised from a character)
* reimplemented resistances and thresholds - the current iteration works for victimeffects, areaeffects AND wielded equipment
* initial support for hotkeys (It's a bit hacky without a user friendly means of binding them)
* HUD tweaks (Filters out effects with a duration of < 500 ms, reenabled damage compass, hotkeys, flashing of the health bar on critical health)
* enumbrance - you can carry 2x as much as your limit at the cost of mobility

Upstream
* (un)ignore commands for FPS module communication
* map format now supports convex triangle fans - basically this improves the results of remip dramatically
* abs(f) commands
* assorted other bugfixes and tweaks
* support for international character sets

I haven't even downloaded it yet, but I'm already extremely happy with some of the changes. Thank you Mike!

also, before I forget; just like the way Blender does it, can we have downloads in the form of installers and plain old zip files? I always liked the option of just being able to download and unzip the zip file, instead of going through the hassle of installing, between admin and everything.

EDIT: wait, lemme rephrase that: a WINDOWS-ONLY version zip file. Right now I have the multiplatform version, but there's a ton of linux-related stuff that I don't like... (it's just an eyesore for me. I don't need it, but don't know if I should delete it.)

Many of the newer maps provided have big block text saying, "NO TEXTURE".

I went through several of the maps with names I did not recognize from 2.7, to see the new additions.
Did alright, except for the missing textures, until I got to "Jungle"...
Where I promptly fell off of the world and plummeted to my death.

Now, any map that I load, including games, I automatically just fall right through the map and die.
I tried to save, and reload different maps, start in edit mode, etc., but I died every time, as soon as the load-screen ended, I died.

I suppose the fix would be to re-install the version and hope I don't find a map that allows me to fall off the world.

Anyway, that was my experience. I'll just keep using 2.7 for now.

This is on Windows, Vista.

Thanks,
- Tony

Hi Tony, thanks for the feedback! Were you playing Jungle in Sidescroller mode or through the main gameplay mode or RPG? Also one thing you could try is deleting the .cfg files in the my_stuff folder (the very top level of my_stuff). That sounds like a very odd bug indeed and I'll be sure to test it. Thanks for the notexture heads up, that's odd too but should be easy to fix at least :D Thank you. Take care.

PS Chocolate, just delete the linux stuff then ;D Make sure you don't delete your whole bin folder though ;D

RPG Mode.

And I'll have another look at it sometime soon.
I'm staying plenty busy now just studying up on the scripting and getting comfortable in the software.
I'm really digging this Mike, this is good stuff, a great project you have going on here.

Thanks,
- Tony

Thanks, a lot of the credit obviously goes to Hirato :D Also for jungle it should be played in the sidescroller mode so that is why there was that problem, though it looks like we might need to make that more obvious for the users. Thanks and take care and let us know of anything else you find :D

I reloaded 2.7.1

Wow, nice. It's coming along nicely.

It's gettin' gooder all the time.

I certainly am enjoying this software and the fun that goes along with it, textures, models, etc.

Thanks guys and gals, keep up the good work, this is a winner, this project.

To me it sounds as though you were dead before you changed maps - the RPG doesn't resurrect you.
But with that said, I'm honestly surprised starting a newgame doesn't set your state to CS_ALIVE if you're dead. I'll look into that for 2.7.2/2.8.0

I have no idea if this is a bug, but Text particles don't work in Co-op
