Community Get Together, Save The Banana!!!

Sometime in the next few days I would love get together members of the community to play some "Save The Banana". This is a modified version of the save the princess map with the bananarelay game type. When joining the server players are separated teams good and evil, and then the object is to try to capture all four bases on the map and/or have the highest score when time runs out. As a note to join you must have the SVN version, bananarelay does not work on 2.3. I was thinking either tonight EST or possibly Sunday sometime EST. Let me know if you are interested and what times are good for you! Take care.

I might be good for Sunday. I'll come up with a time that I'm able to do a little later. :)

EDIT: How about around 2:00 PM EST?

We should set up another one sometime soon. Maybe sometime this weekend or in the evening. The next two weeks will just be rough because of teaching the kid camps. Take care.

This banana relay is a map that Calimer and/or his students have made to test out a new gameplay option in the developmental (SVN) version of Sandbox.

Do you have the developmental version of Sandbox yet (aka the SVN version)? If so, update it, and look for a map called 'savethebanana'. Practice it a bit, especially if you have tried 'save the princess' and had difficulty jumping past the 1st tower. ((HINT: on the 2nd jump be sure to aim for the closest corner of the next tower - Don't turn at all - Hold a long jump - and a little later than you would think to jump)) If you don't have the SVN version of Sandbox, then come here and follow the directions closely: http://sandboxgamemaker.com/wiki/index. ... evelopment

This past Sunday 4 of us got together and tried it out. The map is the same map as 'Save the Princess' however they have added 4 'bases' that need to be captured along the path. When people join they are even divided into 2 teams. Each team tried to tag these bases and maintain control over them as long as possible. The longer a team maintains control of a base, the more points the score.

If you'd like to join us next time keep a look for the next date and time. Perhaps this coming weekend we will try another go at this!

Good night! ;)

Clownfish,

Followed instruction to install SVN but popped up an error message...

Code: Select all

john@john-desktop:~/32pas32/trunk$ sudo sh ./sandbox_unix
[: 31: ./bin/sandbox_client_32_fps: unexpected operator
A problem was encountered, please check which of the following it is.
1) There isn't an available executable for your architecture; i686
2) the executable was moved
3) There isn't an executable
install the sdl, sdlimage and sdlmixer libs and try "cd src && make install" to compile a binary
sdl, sdlimage and sdlmixer already installed to the newest version. Not sure what else to do.
