Hello all

Post by xarlock667 »

Hello all, I am new here. I downloaded Sandbox 2.3 from c-net looking for a quick way for a DM to create maps for our online rpg. I actually downloaded 3 programs, and this was by far the largest. Once I had it up and running, it only took about an hour to be completely hooked. I am downloading version 2.5 right now and I have our DM set to download it for our RPG shortly (I hope, he is not as computer savvy as I am.)

I have been playing RPG's and running them for many years now, and this is by far the best thing that has ever happened to computer gaming since the mouse. You can literally make ANYTHING, and then do whatever you want with it. I made a free floating staircase out of lava, water, air, glass and rock bricks last night into a wall of water. It only took 10 minutes!!!! Holy *censored* that is cool!

I need to know how to make textures, make people, animate them, skin them, and blow them to little twitching pieces. Also, a dragon, and an illithid, and a ghost, and etc...

See you soon!

Welcome! Yes i agree Sandbox is very addicting and it is pretty epic. First things first the wiki section the first place any one should start --> http://sandboxgamemaker.com/wiki/index. ... =Main_Page If you need to talk to us join the chat room! --> http://sandboxgamemaker.com/wiki/index. ... t_The_Team And lastly you can also send one of us a message on the forums.

Textures: Making textures can be quite easy with Gimp a free piece of fabulous software! --> http://www.gimp.org/
And if you want to get more into detail Photo-shop is your man --> http://tryit.adobe.com/us/cs5/photoshop/?sdid=FODKN&.

Modeling "making people": There's a lot of free really easy to use software out there I'll list a few http://www.wings3d.com/, http://sketchup.google.com/ and http://www.blender.org/.

Animation: Same as animation software a lot of really free one's http://www.blender.org/, and http://www.insanesoftware.de/.

Skinning: The only software i use for skinning my models is Tattoo 3d --> http://web.bethere.co.uk/terabit/ And it's also free.

Blowing up models: That would fall under animation and easy accomplished with the animation software listed above.

Sandbox already has a Dragon. A lillithid and a ghost can easily be found on some of these sites http://www.3dvia.com/, http://www.turbosquid.com/ and http://artist-3d.com/.

Really glad you choose Sandbox and i hope i gave some useful tips.

Hi xarlock!

Looks like GR1m pretty much covered everything, so I'll just say "Welcome aboard!"
