Visual Basic, something I learnt in college. It makes the programs slower because it's built upon another language and isn't so good with text stuff, but it's real easy to use and you can make stuff rather quickly.

License? No.

Why? Do you think I should license it?
Oh, very much so! Without a license, you could be held liable for any coincidental data loss that occurs when a user is using your program, or be held to what someone would believe is a "warranty" of sorts; also, your work could be stolen, slightly modified, and released commercially, giving you no credit at all for what work you've put into it (though what you've made is so small-scale that I doubt anyone would do this, it's still best to cover your bases).

You'll have to research individual licenses on your own, and also see what Visual Basic will restrict you to for software licenses; otherwise, you may be digging yourself into a very deep and troublesome hole.

so I can't just write on it that it is of their own risk if they lose work by using it?

And err, file browsing is giving me a lot of grief. When I put in the file browsing code, it no longer autosaves. When I remove it, it does!

I kinda feel like ditching the file browser idea.

Most if not all licenses cover the if-it-breaks-it's-on-you angle, but I do really recommend having a formal license in place. If you want to match Sandbox, IIRC it uses the zlib/png license, so you might want to take a look at that.

Right, a little confusing... Do I just copy and paste it somewhere?

I give up with the dialog box. All it does is screw up all the writing to files. I'm afraid you guys are just gonna have to copy and paste the file path.

Pretty much, you include a file with the .exe that is named LICENSE, and just paste the contents of the license you choose into that file.
You'll need to also be sure to include that license file when you distribute, but that's not hard at all if you pack everything in a zip file before uploadingl.

I'll just set it up so that when you run the exe the file is created with all of that in. Not hard at all. Or should it be there before you start the program up?

It should be there before you start the program. as having it there before having to run the program is more of a courtesy thing towards the users. Typically the license is shown in the installer with an accept/decline button, but if you're not using an installer, you should have the file immediately available.

kk...I liked the idea of only needing to download the exe and everything's there.

How about this. First time you run it this window pops up, and you can only get into the program once you press "I agree"

So the exe effectively IS the license until you accept. Then the txt file is created. Is that ok or not?
