U-287 Adventure Tutorial

Post by AndyLangel »

Hello Everyone!

I am here to give you all a tutorial that will teach you everything you'll need to know to get yourself making an awesome game! This tutorial will be a work in progress for now, and i'll try and not get caught up on other work so i can finish up this tutorial nice and fast. This tutorial is in response to a request for some tutorials by Arcones, and it will also be my gift to you all, as i have since moved away from Sandbox.

But aside all my blabbing, here is the low down on the tutorial as i plan it-

This tutorial will be a guide through every aspect Sandbox has to offer- We will take a detailed look into map creation and editing; We will show you everything you'll need to know about objects and effects; and as a nice wrap up, i will let you know everything i have learned about scripting.

My tutorial will include thorough step-by-step instructions on what to do, along with pictures or even videos guiding you as well. Also i will leave my finished creation open for anyone who wishes to dissect it further.

As far as the story-line goes, my tutorial will be based on the submarine U-287 and its crew. You will begin at port, with a long list of chores and quests you must finish before you will be set to sea. At sea, your job will be that of most every submarine, patrol and sink any enemy ships you happen to find. That being said, this game will be somewhat violent, though none of it will be direct violence. Though, as a crew member you will be part of the action of sinking ships on the open ocean. So, it should be interesting.

I decided to do this tutorial since i happen to have an obsession with submarines, and i think it would be fun to make :) So, plan on hearing more on this within the next couple weeks- i will attempt to not lose focus and interest on this project, though- i will say that it might happen, in which case this tutorial wont be of much help.

Though, until then, i will be working on it and will try to post updates on progress or sections of the tutorial. Hopefully, it wont take me too long :)

I will try and get the map creation/editing basics in today or tomorrow. Thankfully i have nothing else planned today, so i should be able to get it up in a few hours if i work diligently :)
