Building Arches (Tutorial request)

It'd be really nice if there was a video tutorial on making arches. Arched doors, windows, portals et cetera. Someone can think it's easy enough, but I still can't catch the idea of making such surfaces smooth. If you think this tutorial isn't worth making - sorry for bothering.

not exactly. I've already seen a few example maps but i can't achieve the result myself. If only you could capture the process and show me the video - that would be great. Thanks for your reply anyway!

Fraps is (from wikipedia):
Fraps (derived from Frame rate per second) is a benchmarking, screen capture, and real-time video capture utility for DirectX and OpenGL applications. It is commonly used to determine a computer's performance with a game, as well as record gaming footage. The program is very popular in the making of amateur machinima films.

Ironically, all the sandbox footage I've seen people record with fraps ran at ... about 2 FPS (rounding up)

just use the built in video recorder :P

Code: Select all

/movie filename // record to to filename.avi
/movie // stop recording

Granted that Fraps is very CPU intensive, I record my videos with fraps and I'm fine:

Yeah there is a spike or two, but in that video I was showing mostly large areas, not just the character walking around.
