How To Submit Your Entries

Postby Mike » January 10th, 2010, 10:15 am

To submit your entries for the Sandbox Free Game Contest, you will need to do the following:

  1. Create a new topic
Click the new topic button when viewing the forum for the Sandbox Free Game Contest.
  2. Write your submission post
Include a description of your work and anything else that is noteworthy.
  3. Make the content available
Include the link to the content, or you may upload it if it is under 512 KiB -- the board cannot handle larger downloads for security reasons. You can use and other content hosting places to upload the content. Images should be in .png and videos should be in a format that works with youtube (avi, mpeg, etc). As a reminder, all work becomes property of Platinum Arts LLC but any content used will credit the author.
  4. Show a preview
Show us your work that the rest of the community can see what you have made.
You can upload the images here: gallery/album.php?album_id=4 The gallery modifies the image to make it fit space and size requirements so that is why it is important to make the original file still available through sendspace or another host.
You can place the videos on youtube and use the "youtube" button to embed your videos or just place the youtube link itself. Youtube videos must start with the title Platinum Arts Sandbox Free 3D Game Maker and should be first in the details.
  5. Optional: Create a poll so that your content can be rated by the community. Mike the Project Lead of Sandbox is making the final decisions, but if you are interested in seeing how everyone else rates your work then create a poll!
Create a poll within the new topic page for the rating of your map. You can click the poll creation tab below the post entry area to view the options, then do the following:
    • Set "poll question" to

      Code: Select all

Rate my map (1 is poor, 5 is excellent)
    • Set "poll options" to the following:

      Code: Select all

    • Leave "options per user" set as 1
    • Leave "run poll for" as 0 days
  6. Double-check that you've got everything right
Make sure you have the package properly uploaded. Do a test download and make sure everything is intact.
You may also want to create an md5 checksum of the file and make it available to everyone else, if you know how to.

Thanks Obsidian for the template :D
