Portals Guide

Can some one walk me though making a portal in rpg mode
I have been looking at the scripts that were already there but I still done quite understand how its done.
I have a trigger and it calls a script but that is as far as it goes.
Also I have mad multiple triggers but when i try to place a trigger with an index other than 0 it goes to -1 automatically.
Some help would be really appreciated.
