I'll ask this morning :P

Please Obsidian? This could help people in the future decide whether they want Sandbox or not! (Hopefully they will XD)

Just pointing out some pros and cons with each engine, as I am trying to work out which engine to do my project in.
UDK:
Pros:
Good Hightmapping tool... the PAS one has lines running through it, and gets wierd when lightmapped. The UDK heightmapper is great.
UDK has a version of speedtree, which means you can have unlimited (practically) tree models. PAS has about 20 trees, and only 1 conifer.
UDK has destructable environments, fabric materials, and more credibility (as of right now...)
Cons:
You need pretty high graphics to run it, so most people couldn't play your game (UDK needs nvidia 8500 or later)

PAS:
Pros:
If your players are going to be doing a lot of swimming, PAS has a better underwater water shader (UDK it just gets sort of blurry) The above water shaders are about equal though.
PAS has a rather good grass shader.
Making maps will be fast and easy.
The Platinum Arts Sandbox community is quite helpful, and many people will offer you and your game their services (some already have).
Cons:
If your working with a map size 18 or up (at least with my hardware) it fps crashes if you stand in the corner and look towards the middle.
You have a very limited forest size, as PAS can only support around 300 trees in a forest before it starts to get below 10 fps.
You need to be very good at cubescript to work with PAS.

You dont need to be that good with CS to work with PAS... Im not even a Pro yet and Look at what I created...

I know... Siim and I are getting a Mini-Games menu set up for the FPS version of SB while we still work on getting a batch file going... it doesn't require a lot of work :)

Most of the work I do is when I'm bored :P

@python
You are getting it wrong...
In UDK you can do absolutely any kind of water shader :D it doesn´t have to be blurry, you can make it like it would be in air, its your choice.

I have never learned any cubescript and I can understand most of it with first look... So its really easy :D and you really don´t need to know it to work with PAS, In UDK tho you definetly need to know unrealscript for just about everything and actionscript for hud.

Hopefully The fps mode will have HUD definitions... Helth, Armour, Ammo Weapon... All that stuff...
