Trying to decide which Engine to use.. a little help?

Okay, so, my friend and I downloaded Sandbox yesterday, and I have to say, this is one of the best programs I have ever used. The graphics are nice, easy to use, and there is no lag whatsoever. However, my friend and I are getting ready to make an MMORPG, and are wondering if Sandbox is really the right engine to do it in. I have downloaded the UDK (Unreal Development Kit), since many great games were made with Unreal Engine 3, but sadly it lags my computer far too much to be able to do anything with it (If sandbox is not right for us, I will try and fix this problem, but there is no point in fixing it if we will use Sandbox), and not to mention it is more advanced than Sandbox. This is both a good and a bad thing. Sandbox just feels right for our project, but we don't know if it matches what we need.

Short story: We aim to make an online game that players train up their character and participate in PvP action. We need to make a log in screen that saves to a server so players cannot edit their data. We need to make the server. We need it to be stable. We don't want the game to be easily hacked. (I know this has nothing to do with Sandbox, but I thought I'd mention it). Does Sandbox have these capabilities?

We have been researching Sandbox extensively for the last day, and seeing as there is only 2 games released with it and hardly any tutorials, we are weary. Especially since those two games are not multiplayer. (A side note, neither of us can even get multiplayer to even work.)

Please, help us in our time of confusion, is Sandbox right for us?

sandbox can be used for MMORPGs, as I said several times in the past, the burden falls to you to write the netcode, the login server, the monsters, the worlds, etc.
sandbox also has no LOD, meaning the whole world has to be loaded and rendered at once, this can be worked around by splitting it into several smaller worlds and moving between them (ALA Neverwinter Nights)
You could probably take a look at syntensity; another fork of the cube 2 engine. I suspect it implements and provides some of the needed sub systems already.

Thanks a lot Hirato, I think we will go with Sandbox.

As for the worlds, they are split up into different maps, requiring the player to go between maps via portals at the end of the maps to go to the next.

I know the task is a rough one, but with the whole community I'm sure this project will take great shape and give SandBox the credit it so rightfully deserves. (not like the game will be that great, but I have high expectations for it.)

Ronnie you might want to start a recruiting thread, like siimvuss said making a mmo is not a two man job.

But don't be discouraged! Even tho' it may seem like a big project (and it is :P ) don't stop! It'll be awesome once you finish it! :)
