Definitely. I mean, look at me. I started with a basic tunnel map and am now working on historically accurate buildings! Practice makes perfect ;D

You have to ask Mike, I think there's nothing planned (yet)

honestly, I don't think we would need mike to set up a contest. Should they feel like it, any senior member could do it on their own. All they need are:

a) an idea or theme
b) rules and such
c) a reward/award (same thing, I know)
d) judges to judge, obviously.

Here's an example:

a) greatest map PAS has ever seen. Great use of textures, lighting, shaders, heightmap mode, skyboxes, scripting, etc etc etc.
b) 1 month year to make it, made in PAS 2.6 or higher, no bigger than mapsize 13, nice filesize
b1) 2 categories: FPS and RPG. Both categories will have a top 3 winners.
c) reward: inclusion into PAS 2.8
d) judges: myself, Arcones, Leo, Tyche, anyone else who wants to judge (but only real judges get a vote)

again, I repeat: THAT WAS AN EXAMPLE.

No scripting :P

If we want an all inclusive contest you can't have scripting. That actually sounds good though. The award thing we would have to contact Mike about, but IF the maps are amazing, then they could easily be included.

I don't mind being a judge, and since it's closing in on Halloween (and then Thanksgiving) why don't we have the theme be either snowy or Christmas-ish. Could be a fun theme. Or another Halloween theme :P

Does this include making changes to mapname-art.cfg

I agree, a holiday theme would be nice

No, in the sense of blending textures. Just actual Cubescript itself (for dialogue and quests).

I mean like changing it to get different textures and mapmodels into your map.

I think stock assets only for this one. Use your creativity :)
