I found you could save your map to a obj file. It could be used for testing color schemes etc. nice...

Sorry mate, I forgot to mention how...siimvuss wrote:how did you do that?
Go to edit mode and at the command prompt type:
writeobj plus type a file name for the obj file.
The file will be saved in your Sandbox folder.
Re: Maps to obj file
I would be really interested in seeing the Sandbox version next to the obj version. Thanks for posting that, that castle looks awesome! I want to play on it Take care!

Re: Maps to obj file
Well, it's kinda small in size, so it a outpost castle fort, maybe 10 soldiers...
The garrison's md3 file after conversion with the game's smoothing routine on models makes it not very usefull in game. kinda ugly
but sure is fun to be able to export and then get color, texture and some concept ideas flowing.

Re: Maps to obj file
I'm working on a Castle map myself, my first project.
Re: Maps to obj file
I meant that it would be neat to see the map as it appeared in Sandbox, before you did the /writeobj Take care!

Re: Maps to obj file
Ok, a quick tour of the castle fort. The landscape and such is bare but a normal map is applied on the walls. Ah, I did animate a flag though...
Link is below, the video is about 16 meg.

PS checked it out, I really like the brush work you did on that map, it looks awesome! Also that flag rocks! We definitely need flags for water wars as well if you would be interested in submitting it. Thanks again for posting this!
