I think the Ore looks pretty good. Some of the Bars could better. I'll probably redo this set again sometime, to include Bronze Bars, and Mithril, etc.
A 3D Mining Node model could be crafted, and scripted to provide the Ore chunks, and a 3D Forge could be made, for making the Bars.
All you need now is a Pick and an animation for the act of Whacking at a rock and yer toon can be a Miner =)

Here is an example script of how to implement these icon images in your game:

Code: Select all

r_item_name "Gold Bar"
r_item_icon "items/tony/bar-gold.png"
r_item_description "A Bar of Pure Gold."
r_item_mdl "tentus/moneybag"
"items/tony/bar-gold.png" above refers to a directory located at: data/rpg/hud/items/tony/

Enjoy,

These are pretty cool, maybe you could just place them all in a zip file so they can be downloaded all at once?

Maybe.

But... would you have downloaded a zip file, and extracted the files, just to have a look?

Good point though CP. As usual, you are on your job, You're a good lass, an absolute positive asset to this community =)

How about if I post a few example images, and then provide a zip file for the entire collection? That way folks can see a sample of the offering, and then decide if they'd like to bother with downloading and extracting the entire package.

The icons seem to be noticeably missing. I am hoping that a few generic sets will be welcome by game makers. I keep trying to find things to contribute to the project in small ways here and there along the way as I learn to create games. The icons for items and spells look like a missing component, a void that I can easily help fill.

There are many standard items in most RPG games, so a generic set of icons is a reasonable undertaking, I would think.
I want to ascertain that this sort of contribution would be well-received, and actually get used by folks.

Do you think people will welcome and use these icons?

And if so, do you have any requests or suggestions for future sets of icon images?
My intent was to go ahead and make up some of these while I am at it.
Ideas that come to mind are Tools (axe, shovel, pick, hammer, needle, thread, etc.), Gems, Food & Drink, Potions/Flasks/Elixirs, books & scrolls.

Any other ideas that you think folks would actually use?

Thanks,
- Tony

1. I'm a guy. Don't worry, you're not the first to make that mistake.
2. I like the icons, we really do need more.

My sincere apologies Sir.

With a name like "ChocolatePie" though...
...it's sort of a natural assumption. You know, Pie and all.

Of course, Everyone does indeed Love Pie. True fact.

Alright, Laddie, correction noted. Thanks =)

One of my best gamer buddies has a toon named, "Paii", because of course "PIE" is taken. So, I am used to having a buddy named Pie (Paii) around. His toon is a girl-toon though, by the way =P

You should probably put "IMA DOOD" in your Location Note or something.

I know it's a cake, it's the cake icon from Portal. I usually try to have some kind of avatar that's a desert. And besides, I've seen cakes that looked like pies and vice versa.

Your point sir, is valid.

Cheesecake really looks more like pie.
And is often made in a pie shell even...
And a Moon Pie is really a marshmallow Cookie...
What about Brownies? That is sort of a cookie, but really it is a flat cake...

Now I am confused, this is too hard for me.
*scratches his head and wanders off in a confused state to eat a... twinkie.
