Help with sandbox lighting and others

Post by dhawk »

So, ive searched on youtube to see the available tutorials there. When i was watching, i saw that everyone had blue menu screens and a lot of textures, ents, etc. However, my menu screen is green and there are a lot fewer things, causing me some distress :P in addition, i always see the word no texture under my character when he walks and from lighting. As another note, i cannot change the attributes of some things.

I just started and was wondering if i was missing anything, had downloading anything wrong, or just being a noob :) ty if u can reply quickly

What version of sandbox are you using? You can change the theme of your menus and I believe the default is green - give a list please of the things you do have on your menu - thanks!
I'm taking modelling requests again - any models you want created, skinned or animated (or all 3) leave a post here:

My tutorial site - still under construction, but lots of good stuff there:

well, in one video someone went under editing GUI, ents, and there were many including jumpad entity

however, with ents, i only have: new light entity, new mapmodel entitity, new playerstart entity, new envmap entity, new particles entity, new sound entity, and new spotlight entity

w/ menu, i have: new particle, new light, new mapmodel, find entities, editing GUI, skybox menu, edit materials, quickedit menu, texture menu

if it helps at all i have a mac os x10.5.8

Sandbox 2.5-2.6.1 have no ability to play on Mac. I can't remember about 2.4

One of the reasons you don't have all the everything is 1) Your version is in the early dev stage 2) You're seeing a different menu (we frequently code our own)

Maybe some others.

as owen said, Mac isn't exactly the best choice for using Sandbox, but the menu colors you're talking about can be edited. Go to the menu, hit options, and on the first tab should be something like GUI themes. Click there to change it. Also, different modes (RPG, FPS, MovieCube, SSP) use different entities for different purposes, so yeah...
