An Easy way to move content to new 2.7 version?
An Easy way to move content to new 2.7 version?
I have a game I have put a lot of time into but its created in the 2.4 version of Sandbox, I would like to migrate it to the newest version 2.7. Is there an easy way to do this? Any advice would be great!

Re: An Easy way to move content to new 2.7 version?
depends on what you want to transfer, maps are easy (just copy and paste), textures and models are easy too, but coding might be harder, because the coding can get changed sometimes for new releases

Thanks Runescapedj,
well at least I can save the maps, that's a plus. I was hoping someone had an upgrade tool somewhere.

Okay, Just so you know. Just transfer the game files over. Textures, maps, models. Then, you're done.Eagle wrote:I have a game I have put a lot of time into but its created in the 2.4 version of Sandbox, I would like to migrate it to the newest version 2.7. Re: An Easy way to move content to new 2.7 version?
For a more detailed explanation:
Unless those are custom textures, or actual Sandbox textures that made it through the razing process (:P) your map will load fine, but the textures will either be "NO TEXTURE" or completely different. In which case you would have to re-texture everything. I believe the majority of the models are the same, so no biggie there...
Just create a new map in 2.7, save it and go down the path: my_stuff/packages/base/fps (or rpg). It all depends on which mode you build the map in. Then place your map in the newly created base/fps folder. ;D

Maybe selecting the whole map and pasting it works too, for the geometry, that is

This doesn't answer your question, since it's already been answered many times... but I would like to help you with the coding part of your game. If you wish, of course. If you want to learn, just PM or meet me on IRC. I'm almost always there.

I don't think you'll be able to copy from one version of Sandbox to another ;D Unless of course you mean after moving the maps, in which case it'd be mootRunescapedj wrote:Maybe selecting the whole map and pasting it works too, for the geometry, that is
