Re: Dark Tunnels
What do you mean "that's just luck"???Venima wrote:I don't like that "falling through the floor" thing though. That's sorta just luck.
I know, but because I had already built the map (geometry wise) I didn't want to re-create part of the map. I just wanted to finish it. Please don't think that's the best I can do, because frankly, it's not.Venima wrote:There are far more brilliant things you can come up with the make it more hidden.
Each to his own. I prefer the way I set it up. It's kinda for the fact that if you don't find those, you're a little stuck.Venima wrote:And most of the switches, I would rather they weren't hidden like that, maybe in small holes in the wall or holes in the water even. (I don't wanna give anything away so...)
Thanks!Venima wrote:otherwise, not a bad map.

I don't technically have rooms. I have big empty spaces...Venima wrote:Although you kinda need to give each room it's own feel.

In actuality, it's a very simplistic map. Not hard to get around in at all. And seeing as it's for water wars, I wanted it to be a little more of a challenge, then say, the Village RPG.Venima wrote:So that people don't get lost and end up going round in circles for half an hour.

Anyway, I built this to my satisfaction, and that's what counts! (But what's your score between 1 and 5?)

Yeah!! Me too! Did you see the other staircase?Leo wrote:Love that part

Re: Dark Tunnels
Leo, what do you think of the map?
(Like a 1-5...)
Thanks,

Re: Dark Tunnels
Around about 4/5. 1 being really bad, 5 being top notch. Could do with a little more light. and the "falling through the floor" part, definately ruins it. No offense, I know you just wanted to finish it but, you could have made a little more effort in that area. Still cool though. And as for the other staircase, i got bored of constantly getting lost due to the Lack of light, so i hoverred around and i think i found everything.

Re: Dark Tunnels
Okay, that's two people who agree on the same thing.
How would I fix that to your satisfaction? (the falling thing)
Thanks guys for your input! I appreciate it!!
Arc
EDIT: I can fix it and then make it into a new release!

Re: Dark Tunnels
The first "trap" fall if you like could simply be a hard jump to get across. The second bit could be a slim opening at the end of the wall made in such a way that it looks like it's a dead end.

Re: Dark Tunnels
Hm... remove the fall through. Make it either solid or an open space.

Re: Dark Tunnels
encountered problems
1) no mapshot
2) the fog is too bright for the level of darkness you want to use (/fogcolour)
3) there's a waterfall at the stairs
4) lights have too small an impact on the level
5) the big empty cube with all the red spawn - the lava is cutting (and flickering) through the walls
suggestions
1) lower /ambient
(/ambient 5 5 5 is good)

I won't start at the 'playerstart' things in the middle of the lava
