2.8 Wishlist
Re: 2.8 Wishlist
simple character maker.
item maker.
right click on a model and tell it how to act. either to code or to put in a simple info teller.. (I to tired to go on) a drag and drop block code.
I want vehicles in the fps and in all the game options.
the drag and drop code block thing I like.
a animator with the character maker would be great.
I'll put a link to this to my blog soon with a full detailed character maker.
also please have the option in the menu (you push esc for this one) to change the player character. you can have the robot or a human (or any that you put in the folder)
this a very good game maker program by the way !!!!!!!

Re: 2.8 Wishlist
Before you mention those another time somewhere, lemme ask you this:
1) do you really think it's possible to have that in Sandbox?
2) do you have a knowledge of C++ and know what's capable with it?
3) do you understand some basic computer things, e.g. processing capabilities and such?
Also, we do have a coding program in the works, see Leo_V117 about it. It's easy to change player models, just press 0 in game mode (in FPS). Plus, I've created a menu before with the playermodel options before, once you really know Cubescript it's as easy as... (Chocolate) Pie.

Re: 2.8 Wishlist
Yeah, maybe Tyche called it right. You're asking a little much right off the bat.
Not that any or all of that is not possible... but is it all really desirable?
I mean... Blender and other 3D model software are already pretty good at creating models and animating them.
No reason to reinvent the wheel.
Just use appropriate software to produce the assets you want, and then import them into the game environment.
Sure, Sandbox *could* include Blender, Gimp, FTP, eMail, a coffeemaker, and a discount card to your local deli...
...but *should* it?
Now... somebody make me a Sammich, and be quick about it yo.

Re: 2.8 Wishlist
Wow, haven't been on this topic in a while.
Anyways, just some more ideas, these (I believe) are specific menu modifications.
1. a quick particle generator. This means that you would select a spot for the particle to go, open up the menu, select the desired particle, and you're done. From there, you can make minor adjustments as liked. With that, you could skip through all the experimenting with details and just make, say, a map-wide rain particle which works. This isn't too hard to do; I've actually already got a good, working version of this. A list of particles:
2. (I was going to say a custom skybox loader, but I guess we already have one that I didn't notice.) Maybe just a minor adjustment, say "custom skybox loader (I'm talking about the skybox menu, first tab, near the middle of the menu.) We could also have it so that you add the custom skybox once in said fashion, and then it creates a guibutton somewhere else so you don't have to always do the typing and stuff.
3. An in-game texture blender. Done via loading texture A (base) and texture B (overlaid texture).
4. an in-game 3D grass combiner (flat tex + 3d grass)

Re: 2.8 Wishlist
I want A LOT of things for this, but here's the biggest:
1. MODEL STUDIO
A small (In-game?) editor where you can develop your own models. Preferably simple enough to export to MD3, OBJ.
2.WEAPON HUD
Really, this pretty dang big. Although, without weapon HUDs, it would be nice for a HOTD-style gallery shooter.
3.QUEST EDITOR
A small help to RPG mode, to set up entire quest objectives.
4.GRID MAP EDITOR
This MIGHT defeat the entire point of PAS, but a grid map editor would be more convenient for the more advanced mappers.

Re: 2.8 Wishlist
1. Thinking about it now, that could be possible. If we used the head/torso/legs system of md3, then we could maybe create a script that loads the parts wanted. Maybe.InHumanUnit wrote:I want A LOT of things for this, but here's the biggest:

2. Modified RPG hud, along with Water Wars.
3. I can't agree with you more there.
4. Um... can you explain that a bit more? It sounds like we might have a system like that already... do you mean like a gridsize square marker?
Maybe we'll have to see if Bullet comes around or not. That request was on Quadropolis, I believe it was declared unlikely, due to some material editing being required. Read src/engine/material.cpp.jSoftApps wrote:A little more water physics (eg. minecraft style) would be nice

Anyway,
1.Nice to know it's possible!
2.I mean, a simpler way of getting there.
3.Yeees!
4.I suppose something like UDK's map editor.
